Statewise, the film has grossed Rs 49.1 crore in Tamil Nadu in the first two days. With the weekend ahead, the film’s domestic total is expected to cross Rs 70 crore. On its second day of release, Vettaiyan enjoyed an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 58.53 percent. With a promising weekend ahead, the film is poised to bring in even more numbers by the end of Sunday.

    Vettaiyan public reception

Upon release, the film received a thumbs-up from audiences for its strong performances, but many were let down by what they described as flat writing. Some critics expressed disappointment that it wasn’t a "proper Rajinikanth film", as the mass elevation scenes did not work for them. Others criticized the makers for including excessive violent scenes, which could have been avoided given that the film is being showcased to family audiences. Despite the mixed reactions, fans are still flocking to theaters to watch the latest action thriller starring Rajinikanth in a cop avatar once again.
