Vettaiyan: Amitabh Bachchan turns Sathyadev for Rajinikanth-starrer cop drama | WATCH

The Vettaiyan team has finally unveiled the most anticipated character poster of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s role in the film. The makers of the Rajinikanth-starrer took to social media to reveal a powerful promo, introducing the senior Bachchan as Sathyadev.

The new character reveal video showcases the veteran superstar in his signature kurta and pashmina shawl look. In one shot, the actor can be seen interacting with his friend and co-star, superstar Rajinikanth. In another shot, he is intensely reading a script behind the scenes. "Meet the powerhouse of VETTAIYAN! Introducing @SrBachchan as SATHYADEV. Get ready to witness his groundbreaking performance," the makers wrote while sharing the video.

Fans, thrilled to see these two icons of Indian cinema together, cannot wait to watch them share the screen in the film. Take a look at the intriguing and stylish character reveal of the Bollywood star.

According to sources, Big B is set to make an extended cameo appearance as a judge in the film, although an official confirmation is still awaited.

Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan’s reunion after three decades

Vettaiyan marks the long-awaited reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen after more than 30 years. The two legendary actors previously appeared together in films like Andha Kanoon (1983), Geraftaar (1985), and Hum (1991). Interestingly, it was during the filming of Hum that Rajinikanth conceived the idea for what later became his iconic movie Baasha (1995). Since Hum, the two stars haven’t worked together, making Vettaiyan a highly anticipated film for fans of both actors.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame, Vettaiyan is an upcoming action drama that focuses on the education system, promising a hard-hitting story exposing corruption within the system. Besides Rajinikanth and Big B, the film will feature Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Shaji Chen, Ramesh Thilak, Rakshan, and GM Sundar, among others.

Vettaiyan is slated for a grand Dussehra release on October 10, 2024.
