Studio Green has chosen the eve of Kanguva's release to unveil the teaser of another ambitious big-budget project, Vaa Vaathiyaar. The timing has left some fans puzzled, as the studio is already immersed in the intense work of Kanguva's launch. Some fans might even interpret this release as an indirect hint at Karthi's rumoured involvement in Kanguva, which stars his elder brother, Suriya, in the lead role.

At this point, though, it's all speculation. The Vaa Vaathiyaar teaser reflects director Siva’s description of Karthi as a “fun-loving nature” who gives off the vibe of a college friend. That’s exactly how Karthi comes across in the teaser: a charismatic, laid-back hero with an air of mischief.

The teaser opens with Karthi receiving a hero's welcome at the police station, greeted by packed streets, folk dances, percussion bands, and joyful celebrations reminiscent of a local festival. While Karthi playfully pretends to complain, he quickly joins the revelry, moving effortlessly to Santhosh Narayanan’s catchy, cool beats.

Director Nalan Kumarasamy has crafted a teaser that highlights the film’s vibe—laid-back, fun, and tinged with suspense. Key moments include the introduction of Krithi Shetty, who appears to channel the allure of a classic femme fatale, and Sathyaraj, whose character seems to have a hidden agenda. Karthi fits seamlessly into this world, a testament to Nalan’s unique vision.

The tone and mood of Vaa Vaathiyaar echo Nalan Kumarasamy's directorial debut, Soodhu Kavvum, which followed a group of men dabbling in crime for quick money through a kidnap scheme. Despite the teaser’s fun vibe, Vaa Vaathiyaar hints at a darker, suspenseful undercurrent that may come to light in the full film.

It appears that Karthi plays the role of a die-hard fan of the movie icon M.G. Ramachandran aka MGR aka Vaathiyaar. The film is expected to deliver a strong dose of nostalgia, steeped in Tamil pop culture. The cast also includes Anandaraj, Rajkiran, Karunakaran, and Madhur Mittal, among others.
