Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj unveiled the character look of Kannada star Upendra from his upcoming directorial venture, Coolie. Starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, Coolie boasts an all-star ensemble cast.

Upendra is the latest star to join the cast of Coolie. The character poster reveals his intense avatar, with a hook in his hand and rage in his eyes. He plays a character named Kaleesha.

Upendra, a self-proclaimed fan of Rajinikanth, recently expressed his joy about sharing screen space with him. Earlier, there was speculation that Lokesh was considering a star from the Kannada film industry for a key role in Coolie. Many reports suggested that Duniya Vijay was one of the top contenders for the role. Vijay himself confirmed hearing rumours of his consideration but stated that he hadn't received an official offer.

However, it seems Lokesh had his eyes on Upendra all along. Upendra is a huge star in the Kannada film industry, but he also enjoys a significant following among movie-going audiences in Tamil and Telugu cinema. He has acted in a few Tamil movies and has left an indelible mark on the audience's minds.

Coolie will mark Upendra's return to Tamil cinema after a gap of over 15 years. His last appearance in a Tamil movie was in Satyam, which came out in 2008.

Lokesh has put together a formidable star cast for his maiden venture with Rajinikanth. The film also stars Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan.

The production of Coolie is going on in full swing in Hyderabad, against the backdrop of the seaport. Judging from the earlier teaser, the film seems to revolve around the issue of gold smuggling. It will arrive in cinemas next year.
