Ullozhukku box office collection day 6: Will Kalki 2898 AD affect the steady growth of Parvathy, Urvashi-starrer?

The latest Malayalam mystery thriller, Ullozhukku, which released in theatres on June 21, 2024, has been making a significant buzz among Mollywood cine-goers who were impressed by the stellar performances of the lead actresses – Parvathy and Urvashi. Although the film managed to mint good numbers upon its release, many box office analysts believe that the film might have a tough luck competing with the pan-Indian spectacle Kalki 2898 AD. Here’s why:  

Ullozhukku box office collection: Kalki fever to affect the numbers?

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Ullozhukku opened to decent numbers on its opening day and has minted approximately Rs 2.26 crore by the end of its first week (day 6). Given the film’s steady growth, the makers have recently decided to expand its distribution to other regions, including North India, and are also planning a theatrical release in GCC countries, starting June 27, 2024.

However, with 2024’s most awaited sci-fi spectacle and pan-India film Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, releasing on June 27, there are several discussions surrounding Ullozhukku’s possible clash with the grand film at the Kerala box office. Notably, Malayali audiences have been eagerly anticipating the release of the Telugu film, mostly due to the hype surrounding the film and also because of (spoilers ahead) Malayalam stars Dulquer Salmaan and Anna Ben’s involvement in the project. 

Though the Parvathy-starrer enjoyed a great occupancy rate in the past week, the film might lose its momentum in the days ahead. However, it's very early to make this prediction, so we may have to wait to analyse the box office collection in the upcoming days for the Christo Tomy directorial.
