Ever since the trailer of Pushpa 2: The Rule was unveiled a couple of days ago, the internet has been buzzing with excitement over its stunning visuals and power-packed stunt sequences. Promising a ‘wildfire’ experience, the makers and fans are confident that the film will be yet another surefire ₹1,000 crore blockbuster for Tollywood.

However, the trailer has not sat well with certain fans, who have pointed out similarities between aspects of the trailer and Kannada blockbuster KGF. A recent X thread compares various scenes and elements, alleging that the makers of Pushpa 2 have ‘copied’ scenes from Yash’s pan-Indian hit.

Titled ‘Pushpa 2 copied from KGF’, the thread calls out the makers of Pushpa 2: The Rule for its striking similarities to KGF’s storyline and even its promotional posters.

Some fans have gone as far as calling Pushpa 2: The Rule a ‘sasti copy’ of the KGF franchise. They particularly pointed to similarities in posters, with KGF featuring Yash and Pushpa 2 featuring Allu Arjun in poses that appear strikingly alike.

In another tweet, a user accused the makers of Pushpa 2 of even copying the ‘mother sentiment’ storyline popularized by the KGF franchise. From childhood struggles to emotional moments with a mother figure, marrying a girl who initially disliked the hero, and expanding the protagonist’s empire following the death of a central character, these recurring tropes have led fans to believe the makers may have taken direct inspiration from KGF.

While some argue that the similarities are too specific to be coincidental, others, particularly Allu Arjun’s fans, have dismissed the claims as baseless. They defended their favourite star by stating that these elements are common in South Indian cinema and were not 'invented' by KGF as some fans claim.
