Thug Life: Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan to wrap up shooting soon? Here’s what we know

Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film Thug Life is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases this year. The team had initially kick-started the project with actor Silambarasan on board. As per the latest reports, the film is nearing completion, with only 25 days of shooting remaining. 

According to sources, the makers of the film plan to wrap up the shoot by the first week of August, hence fans can expect an exciting announcement about the film very soon. Reports also indicate that the film’s post-production work is also taking place simultaneously. 

Will Thug Life have a November release?

Sources also reveal that if everything goes as planned, the makers might aim for a November release date. Although an official confirmation is awaited, it seems like the team is targeting a release date at the end of this year. However, fans may need to be a little patient and await further updates.

Ashok Selvan joins the cast of Thug Life

Earlier, it was announced that with actors Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi exiting the project, the team had to bring in new cast members. It has been widely speculated that actor Ashok Selvan has replaced Jayam Ravi in the film, and according to the latest sources, the Oh My Kadavule actor has joined the cast for the shooting schedule. The makers have not officially announced the onboarding of Ashok Selvan, while other actors received official welcomes. But fans now speculate that his character might be a surprise in the film. The actor, who was last seen in the Tamil romantic comedy Pon Ondru Kanden, will be marking his maiden collaboration with both Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and maverick director Mani Ratnam with Thug Life.

Thug Life ensemble star cast

The upcoming gangster drama Thug Life marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after a long hiatus of 36 years, since their 1987 blockbuster film Nayakan. The movie boasts an ensemble star cast, including Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Trisha, Gautham Karthik, Abhirami, Nassar, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Vaiyapuri, among others. The original background score and soundtracks for the gangster drama are composed by Mani Ratnam's frequent collaborator AR Rahman.
