    After an extensive shoot in Pondicherry, the makers of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s most ambitious project, Thug Life, have wrapped up its third schedule. As per the latest reports, the team will now begin its Kerala schedule. Leading stars Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan, and other cast members were part of the third schedule. Although it has been previously reported that Silambarasan is playing a central character in the film, Ashok Selvan’s involvement in the project has been kept under wraps. He has reportedly replaced Jayam Ravi, who was initially cast in the film but backed out. 

    Thug Life: 40-day shooting schedule wrapped up

    According to the latest sources, over 60 per cent of the shooting has been completed in just 40 days. The makers shot an extensive pre-climax, which is reportedly a major action sequence of the film at the Pondicherry airport. Kamal Haasan was also part of this schedule. Reports indicate that the makers are aiming to wrap up the entire shooting by August and begin post-production work soon after. Sources reveal that the cast and crew will soon travel to Kerala for the next schedule of the action drama. If everything goes as per the schedule, the makers are eyeing a December 2024 release.

    According to sources, Kamal Haasan is set to portray triple roles in the Mani Ratnam directorial. Reports suggest that Kamal Haasan will give a big treat to his fans through his upcoming collaboration with the iconic director, as he might be playing three different roles in the film. The latest grapevine also suggests that the three roles are set in three different timelines. However, these speculations are yet to be confirmed.

    Thug Life marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after 35 years, since their 1987 cult classic Nayakan. The second collaboration between the director-actor duo has been highly anticipated ever since its announcement, with fans eagerly awaiting to witness the magnum opus on the big screens soon. Besides Ulaganayagan, the upcoming movie boasts an ensemble star cast, including Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Trisha, Gautham Karthik, Abhirami, Nassar, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Vaiyapuri, among others. AR Rahman, who has been a frequent collaborator of Mani Ratnam, has composed the music for the gangster drama.
