The John Wick spinoff 'Ballerina' gets an official release date
Ana de Armas will enter the world of the High Table in 2024.
The John Wick spinoff movie starring Ana de Armas now has an official 2024 release date. The studio has previously announced that the movie will hit theaters next year but had not given an exact date till now.
The movie is the second spinoff of the franchise, the first is the upcoming limited prequel series titled The Continental which focuses on a young Winton and Charon.
The Continental will consist of three 90-minute episodes and will premier on Paramount+ this September.
Ana de Armas had undergone the same weapons and combat training that Keanu Reeves went through for his role as John Wick.
The spinoff which is currently in post-production is set between the events of John Wick Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 and focuses on Rooney, who is out of revenge against the people who murdered her family.
Rooney made her debut in the third chapter of John Wick, then played by professional American ballerina Unity Phelan.
The movie will feature cameos from Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick as John Wick, Winston Scott, and Charon respectively.
The main cast of the movie includes Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.
Currently, John Wick 4 is number one at the global box office and has grossed an impressive 247 million, making it the second highest-grossing movie in the series behind John Wick 3.
The movie collected 137.5 million on its opening weekend thus giving the fourth chapter the best opening in the franchise and the best opening weekend for any R-rated movie since the pandemic.
The movie has received praise from critics and fans and currently holds an impressive and rare 95% from both critics and audiences.
The John Wick franchise has grossed over 834 million dollars worldwide and is one of the world's most successful and popular movie franchises.
There is also a possibility of a third spinoff focusing on the blind assassin Caine played by Donnie Yen set after the events of John Wick 4.
Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman from a screenplay by Shay Hatten and Emerald Fennell and will hit theaters worldwide on June 7, 2024.
