Venkat Prabhu blames CSK reference for poor performance in Telugu and Hindi versions of The GOAT

Earlier, director Venkat Prabhu speculated that his favorite Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), could be a reason the film didn't perform well in the Telugu and Hindi markets. For context, the climax of The GOAT takes place during a Chennai Super Kings match at the Chepauk Stadium, where Vijay’s character tries to prevent a bomb from detonating. Venkat mentioned that this reference may have reduced the film's appeal beyond Tamil Nadu.

The director also revealed that the team had to cut out 18 minutes from the film to fit the standard runtime of a feature film. He mentioned that the OTT version on Netflix will include all the deleted scenes, including an intriguing one between Sivakarthikeyan and Mic Mohan.
