Thalapathy Vijay’s most eagerly awaited film, The Greatest of All Time, is the biggest Tamil movie release that fans across the globe have been waiting for. Ever since Vijay announced his entry into politics, fans have been waiting to watch The Greatest of All Time. This is possibly due to the actor’s announcement that he will retire from acting after the 2026 elections.

Today, the makers released a poster for fans with the countdown to the film's release, with only 49 days remaining until its worldwide release on September 5, 2024. Ahead of its grand release, there has been a surge in fan theories about what the movie is about on social media.

The Greatest of All Time based on cloning?

The latest fan theories suggest that The Greatest of All Time focuses on cloning technology, which is said to become more prevalent by 2050. In a recent fan-made video, it was speculated that the first glimpse released on Thalapathy Vijay’s birthday showcased elements of cloning, featuring a human-like figure resembling Vijay inside a cylindrical device. 

The video further explained that the glimpse included the words ‘Peak of 11 billion by 2050,’ suggesting that the film might be focusing on cloning technology, which is set to expand to 11 billion clones by 2050.

Earlier speculations were rife that the upcoming Venkat Prabhu directorial would be based on time travel and that Vijay would be seen in a double role. Although the makers had previously released the first and second look posters of the film, indicating that Vijay would be playing both father and son roles, reports now suggest that Vijay is also essaying a third role, making it a triple treat for fans. 

The third role is currently being kept under wraps by the team. Nonetheless, these fan theories indicate that the hype surrounding the film has no bounds, with fans eagerly waiting to witness the sci-fi spectacle soon on the big screens.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the upcoming film has an impressive ensemble cast that includes Mohan, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, and Ajmal Ameer. The music for the film has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with Siddhartha Nuni as the cinematographer.
