The Greatest of All Time hidden plot: Thalapathy Vijay movie tackles child trafficking
While the trailer of The Greatest of All Time hints at a high-voltage action thriller about a legendary spy, censor board reports suggest that the film delves deep into the dark world of child trafficking.
The Greatest of All Time
Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu claimed that he had left hints about the main plot of his movie The Greatest of All Time, starring Thalapathy Vijay, in the trailer, but nobody was able to decode them. The trailer suggested it's a high-voltage action entertainer about a spy who enjoys legendary status in his field. There are also mentions of terrorist threats and impending bomb explosions in the middle of the city.
However, it seems that the main subject of The Greatest of All Time is something entirely different. The censor reports of the movie indicate that a significant portion of its runtime is dedicated to depicting the horrors of child trafficking. The British Board of Film Classification cleared the movie for public screening with a rating of 15, meaning it is only suitable for audiences older than 15. The agency reported that the film includes "a disturbing sequence involving child trafficking."
The report further states that the film portrays the horrors of "child slavery" through a montage that includes scenes of violence against children. Additionally, the censors described the movie as a "high-octane action thriller, with fast-paced fight scenes."
In India, The Greatest of All Time was cleared by the censor board with a U/A certificate. The film's runtime is three hours, including the bloopers, which have become a special feature in all Venkat Prabhu movies.
Vijay plays a double role in the movie. He's introduced as the "GOAT" of an elite spy agency and is called back from retirement to head a high-stakes mission. The film appears to move back and forth in time.
Vijay portrays both the father and the son in the movie. Venkat Prabhu noted that the younger Vijay character will be the main source of light-hearted moments in the film.
The Greatest of All Time is due in cinemas on September 5.
