The Archies: Before Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor & Agastya Nanda's debut, THESE Bollywood films featured love triangles

The Zoya Akhtar directorial The Archies revolves around the love triangle between the cult-classic comic book characters Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge, and Betty Cooper. However, this is not the first time that Bollywood will witness a love triangle and some complicated relationships. Take a look at some of these other movies that deal with love triangles.

Cocktail

The 2012 film had Saif Ali Khan’s character fall in love with his girlfriend’s best friend. This is a classic example wherein instead of Veronica (Deepika Padukone’s name was Veronica quite literally), Betty (Diana Penty) gets the guy. Well, Veronica did win our hearts though.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) chooses the beautiful Tina (Rani Mukerji) instead of the tomboyish Anjali (Kajol). However, fate brings him to Anjali towards the end of the film, courtesy of his daughter who plays Cupid at the request of her late mother. However, her heart did cry for poor Aman (Salman Khan).

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander

This is another classic example wherein Archie (Aamir Khan) falls for Veronica (Pooja Bedi) instead of Betty (Ayesha Jhulka). Courtesy, Pooja’s Marilyn Monroe stint atop a car. The movie is still a favorite when it comes to a classic teen romantic movie.

Biwi No 1

Salman Khan’s Archie cheats on his domesticated wife Karisma Kapoor (a classic Betty) with the hot and sultry Sushmita Sen (very much the Veronica). The movie did have some questionable ways in which the wife tries to win back the husband’s affection. Let’s just say, Salman’s character was all things wrong on many levels.

Lagaan

Aamir Khan (your desi Archie) finds his heart wavering towards the British beauty Elizabeth (Rachael Shelly). While the Gracy Singh’s Betty has her heart fixated on him. However, this movie was yet another time when Betty gets to have her happy ending with Archie.
