This Diwali weekend saw two big films released in the theatres, one was Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra ’s Thank God , and the other was Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu . All eyes were on the movie which triumphs over the other at the box office. And it seems like finally, Akshay’s streak of flops is over as the actor’s film has been winning the box office game with flying colors.

Talking about the same, Akshay Kumar’s film opened at the box office better than expected and minted Rs 15.25 crore. Now, on its second day, the movie has managed to earn Rs 10.60 crore and continues a steady run. This means that the total collection of the movie now amounts to Rs 25.85 crore at the box office. Further positive word-of-mouth and the upcoming weekend might further work favorably for Ram Setu. The extended Diwali holiday further proved to be a boosting factor for the film. After facing dismal box office figures with films like Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan, Akshay badly needed a film that would help him bring his A-game back. It seems that Ram Setu is that film for the actor and it will be interesting to see how the movie performs in the upcoming days.

On the other hand, Thank God isn’t doing a very dismal performance at the box office but the movie is certainly lagging behind as compared to Ram Setu. On its opening day, the Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra starrer minted only Rs 8 crore which is quite less than the Akshay Kumar film. Now, on its second day, the film has earned Rs 6 crore and the total collections reportedly stand at Rs 14.10 crore. The movie has been receiving mostly negative reviews which might not work in its favor.

Ram Setu also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Satyadev, and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles. It has been helmed by Abhishek Sharma. Thank God is directed by Indra Kumar and also stars Rakul Preet Singh in the lead role.
