This Independence Day saw two major Tamil releases—Thangalaan and Demonte Colony 2, clash at the box office, and surprisingly, both films have been giving tough competition to each other. The Vikram-starrer Thangalaan has been making significant waves at the box office, showing no signs of slowing down. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the period action drama, featuring Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, and Parvathy, continues to receive rave reviews.
On the other hand, Demonte Colony 2, directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu and starring Arulnithi, has also attracted many theater-goers, with audiences impressed by this sequel to the 2015 blockbuster. Here's how the films have been performing on its sixth day:

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Vikram’s Thangalaan opened to impressive numbers, earning approximately Rs 1.70 crore on Tuesday, bringing its total domestic box office collection to Rs 33.52 crore. The worldwide collections of the film stand at Rs 48 crore, and it is expected to enter the Rs 50-crore club within a week of its release. The film also enjoyed an average Tamil occupancy rate of 17% and a Telugu occupancy rate of 18%.
On the other hand, Demonte Colony 2, which earned approximately Rs 3.55 crore on its first day, collected Rs 18.35 crore at the domestic box office. On its sixth day, the horror film, starring Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar, earned Rs 1.05 crore, marking its lowest collection so far after a strong performance on the first Sunday, where it even challenged Thangalaan.
