Thangalaan release update: Producer says Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s period action drama will be out in cinemas on this date

Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s long-delayed period action drama, Thangalaan, is all set to hit the big screens soon! The makers of the film are yet to make an official announcement but in an unexpected turn of events, producer Dhananjayan of Studio Green recently confirmed in an interview that the film will be released on August 15, 2024, on Independence Day.

The producer revealed that the makers are aware that the fans have been eagerly awaiting the Vikram-starrer on the big screens for a long time and it will be out in August. Fans are much excited to learn that the period action drama will release on August 15, 2024. 

Thangalaan is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Kollywood biggies, which has not dropped any new updates to fans recently. While the release date has been confirmed by the producer, fans still speculate that the date is tentative, as the movie has already gone through several postponements.

For the unversed, the film was earlier scheduled to be released on January 26. However, it was postponed after hitting a roadblock, and April 2024 was announced as its release window. Due to technical reasons, the film’s release date got further pushed. Fans are now hoping that the makers stick to the final release date and are expecting an official confirmation soon. 

Thangalaan cast 

Directed by Pa Ranjith, the upcoming period action drama, headlined by Chiyaan Vikram, is set against the backdrop of the Kolar Gold Fields during the British era. The movie boasts a stellar star cast featuring Parvathy, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathi, Muthukumar, Hari Krishnan, Preethi, and Arjun Prabhakaran in key roles.

The earlier released teasers and glimpses promise to narrate the gripping tale of the oppressed rising against their oppressors. The movie promises to deliver surrealism and mythology, coupled with gripping performances. And with director Pa Ranjith at the helm, fans can expect nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece soon! 

The film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green with Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions overseeing production. The movie has music scored by GV Prakash Kumar.
