Thangalaan official release date announced: Vikram's film eyes this big weekend

It's official! Pa Ranjith and Vikram’s highly anticipated period action flick, Thangalaan, is all set to hit the screens worldwide on August 15, 2024. The makers took to their social media handles to make the official announcement after much speculation. On social media, the makers wrote, “The #Thangalaan storm is set to strike like a spear - strong and fierce. A tale of blood, gold, and glory awaits. #ThangalaanFromAug15 - Releasing Worldwide.”

Earlier, producer Dhananjayan of Studio Green confirmed in an interview that the film will be released on August 15, 2024, Independence Day. Notably, the Vikram starrer will clash with Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh’s Telugu fantasy action drama Double iSmart this Independence Day.

Thangalaan makers kick off promotions

Ahead of the grand release of Vikram’s Thangalaan, the makers have begun the musical promotions of the film. They recently dropped the first single from the film, titled 'Minikki Minikki'. The new song, composed by GV Prakash Kumar, features vocals by Sinduri Vishal.

The first single showcases lead actors Vikram and Parvathy dancing to the celebratory folk song, as tribals join them in the energetic performance. The song truly brings out the essence of the film and seems to describe the beauty of their community. Parvathy and Vikram looking terrific in their new looks.

All about Thangalaan

Pa Ranjith’s film Thangalaan explores themes of oppression during the British era. The director presents a gripping tale of the oppression faced by a tribal community and narrates the original story of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), discovered by the British two centuries ago. 

The movie promises to deliver a rooted story of the oppressed community coupled with mesmerising performances by the lead actors. Vikram, Parvathy, and Malavika Mohanan’s looks and avatars in the film have piqued viewers' interest, who are eagerly looking forward to seeing the spectacle in cinemas soon.

Thangalaan is a period action film that is co-written by Tamil Prabha and Azhagiya Periyavan, along with Pa Ranjith. The movie boasts a stellar cast that also features Pasupathi, Preethi, and Arjun Prabhakaran in key roles. 

The film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green, with Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions overseeing production.
