Thangalaan box office collection day 15: Vikram’s period drama enters the Rs 100-crore club but…

After a two-week theatrical run, Chiyaan Vikram and director Pa Ranjith’s latest film Thangalaan has finally entered the Rs 100-crore club. The movie, which hit the big screens on August 15, 2024, has been making waves among audiences, who have praised the lead actors and filmmakers for delivering a cinematic marvel in Kollywood after a long hiatus. On day 15, here’s how the film has performed domestically and overseas.

Vikram’s Thangalaan box office collection day 15

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Thangalaan, which earned around ₹26 crore on its first day, has now collected over ₹2 crore on its 15th day of release, bringing its total collections to ₹100 crore. In Tamil Nadu alone, the film collected over ₹69 crore, with an additional overseas collection of ₹18 crore. However, in terms of ROI (Return on Investment), the film had made a very slower progress in reaching the Rs 100-crore club. Compared to films like Raayan and other big releases that reached the Rs 100-crore mark within a week, Vikram’s film, despite the hype and anticipation, has been slower in surpassing its budget. For context, the film was made on a staggering budget of ₹100-150 crore. With Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time releasing on September 5, 2024, Thangalaan might find it challenging to attract audiences to the theatres.

Will the Hindi release of Thangalaan help fetch more box office numbers?

As announced earlier, the makers have decided to release the Hindi-dubbed version of Vikram’s Thangalaan on September 6, 2024. Although Hindi audiences have been eagerly awaiting the film's release on the big screens, fans are concerned that the film’s clash with Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time could affect its box office potential. However, the makers remain confident that the film will attract more viewers and are awaiting positive responses from the Hindi-speaking audiences as well.
