Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time to challenge Ajith Kumar's Valimai’s record

It would be an understatement to say that Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming movie The Greatest Of All Time is one of the most-awaited films in Tamil cinema. The anticipation for the movie remains strong, despite the mounting negativity surrounding its music album.

To capitalize on the pre-release hype, the filmmakers have reportedly secured over 1000 screens in Tamil Nadu alone. This move ensures The Greatest Of All Time will dominate the Tamil Nadu box office, with no other major releases slated for September 5. While this is an impressive feat that underscores the movie's popularity, it's not the first film to achieve this milestone.

In 2022, Vijay's contemporary Ajith Kumar's Valimai became the first film in Tamil cinema history to be released on more than 1000 screens in Tamil Nadu. The circumstances, however, were different during the release of Valimai, making it somewhat easier to secure screens without much competition.

At that time, the Indian box office was emerging from the long shadows of the COVID-19 pandemic. The industry was eager for a star-driven film to draw audiences back to theaters, and securing screens for Valimai was less of a challenge. Nevertheless, it was Ajith's Valimai that set this record before Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time.

The Greatest Of All Time will not only be a solo release in Tamil Nadu but will also enjoy a long, uncontested run at the box office. The film is expected to face no serious competition for almost a month, allowing it to solidify its box office success.

Written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, The Greatest Of All Time is billed as a sci-fi drama and is expected to feature spectacular visual effects. The film also stars Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, and Meenakshi Chaudhary.
