Jason Sanjay, the son of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, is gearing up to make his debut as a writer-director. Amid ongoing pre-production work, industry sources suggest that Jason has already selected his lead actor. The buzz is Sundeep Kishan, who was recently seen in Raayan, has been tapped to play the lead role in Jason's debut film. However, official confirmation regarding the casting is still awaited.

Jason, who studied filmmaking at Toronto Film School and completed a BA (Hons) in screenwriting in London, had earlier announced his intention to pursue a career in movies. During his time studying screenwriting in London, Jason made several short films and shared them on his YouTube channel, Jason Sanjay Vijay.

Unlike his father, who is known for his acting, Jason has chosen to make his mark as a filmmaker. He has joined hands with Lyca Productions for his debut project.

Lyca Productions’ head, Subaskaran, expressed confidence in Jason’s vision. “The movie has a unique story premise and promises an engrossing experience. When he narrated the script, we were completely satisfied, as it gave us a strong cinematic feel. It's great to see that he has specialized in screenwriting and direction, while also understanding the complete production process—an essential quality every filmmaker should master,” Subaskaran said in an earlier statement.

Jason himself expressed excitement about the opportunity, sharing, "We are now in talks with some emerging stars in the industry and engaging technicians."

Sundeep Kishan has established himself as a prolific actor, essaying a range of roles in his young career. His performance as an impulsive brother to Dhanush's character in Raayan received a lot of praise. The movie became a huge hit at the box office, giving Sundeep a much-needed break in his career.
