Social media is abuzz with rumours about Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's first reaction to his upcoming movie, The Greatest of All Time. It's said that Vijay saw the preview of the movie amid growing negativity surrounding the movie's music album, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

It's reported that Vijay was mightily impressed with director Venkat Prabhu's work. "Kalakitta," Vijay allegedly said to Venkat. The rough Tamil translation would be "outstanding." Vijay reportedly even regretted announcing his retirement, as he would have liked to work with Venkat on one more movie.

The timing of Vijay's reaction going viral on social media coincides with mounting negativity against The Greatest of All Time. The film caught the audience's imagination soon after it was announced, marking Vijay's first collaboration with Venkat Prabhu.

Even though Venkat is known for making out-and-out commercial entertainers, he has managed to subvert expectations while using familiar story tropes. In 2011, he made Mankatha, which became one of the most successful and memorable films in Ajith's career. Similarly, fans expect him to show Vijay in a new and refreshing dimension.

However, public reactions have so far not been in favor of The Greatest of All Time. The film's songs have come under a lot of criticism, including the recently released "Spark". The filmmakers also unveiled a glimpse revealing the de-aging effect on Vijay in the film, garnering mixed reactions. Many are not happy with the young Vijay's look, reportedly forcing the filmmakers to fine-tune the special effects.

The Greatest of All Time is believed to be one of the last films in Vijay's career. He is expected to retire from acting for good after finishing his next movie, Thalapathy 69. This makes the success of The Greatest of All Time very important. The movie is due in cinemas on September 5.
