Thalapathy Vijay joined the ranks of Tamil cinema's A-listers who flocked to theatres across Tamil Nadu to catch the first-day, first-show screening of Superstar Rajinikanth's latest film, Vettaiyan. Vijay was spotted at a popular theatre in Chennai for the screening.

TV visuals showed Vijay leaving the theatre discreetly, masked and wearing a cap to avoid fan frenzy. Despite his efforts to stay unnoticed, his presence didn't go unnoticed. Vijay is known for watching big-ticket films among audiences, often opting for local theatres to catch the experience firsthand. Recently, he was seen in Hyderabad watching Telugu star Prabhas’ Salaar Part 1, indicating his love for the theatrical vibe and the fan excitement around action-packed films.

Vijay wasn’t the only star to attend the Vettaiyan screening. Actor Dhanush, composer Anirudh Ravichander, and director Karthik Subbaraj were also among the Tamil cinema heavyweights to give the film a rousing reception at the box office.

Vettaiyan, directed by Jai Bhim fame TJ Gnanavel, is Rajinikanth's 170th film and boasts a star-studded supporting cast. The movie is especially significant for marking Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s debut in Tamil cinema.

While Vettaiyan was highly anticipated, it opened to mixed reviews. Critiques pointed to a lack of depth in the storyline. "Vettaiyan lacks the dramatic tension and emotional depth required for a film of this scope. Good intentions, unfortunately, don’t make good movies. What Vettaiyan needed was a sharper focus, a clear antagonist, and a more profound portrayal of its hero’s transformation," wrote Desimartini in its 2.5-star review.

Despite the mixed reactions, the film has garnered immense attention thanks to Rajinikanth’s presence and its powerful ensemble cast.
