Thalapathy Vijay gets emotional at TVK flag launch: 'There is historical meaning behind the flag...'

Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay marked a significant milestone in his political career by unveiling the official flag of his party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). At the event, Vijay hoisted the flag and delivered an emotional speech, where he momentarily choked up. "I am very proud to introduce this flag to my friends and the people of Tamil Nadu, who reside in my heart," he said.
Vijay is the latest entrant in Tamil Nadu's vibrant political scene. Earlier this year, he shocked many by announcing his decision to leave the film industry for good in order to pursue a full-time career in politics.
"Until now, we worked for our individual betterment. In the coming years, we should prepare ourselves as a political party and work together for the betterment of Tamil Nadu and its people," Vijay declared.
His decision to leave the film industry at the peak of his career sent ripples across the country and earned him praise for his determination to fully commit to this new chapter in his life.
While Vijay is not the first big star from Tamil cinema to take the political plunge, he is the first superstar to enter electoral politics without the safety net of his film career, should his political efforts not yield the desired results.
Vijay also announced that preparations are underway for the first major public meeting of his party, TVK, which he eagerly anticipates. He promised to explain the meaning behind the design of the TVK flag and its connection to Tamil Nadu’s history at that meeting.
"Just as there is calm before the storm, there is also an interesting historical meaning behind this flag. I will soon reveal it, along with our party's ideology, principles, and course of action during the first public meeting," he added.
