The much-awaited Thalapathy 69, which is touted as Thalapathy Vijay's last film before retiring from acting to focus on politics, has officially begun production on Friday. Written and directed by H. Vinoth, the film has already generated immense buzz, especially with its stellar ensemble cast. The production team held a formal puja ceremony to mark the commencement of shooting.
Joining Vijay in Thalapathy 69 is Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, who has been confirmed as the film’s antagonist. This marks Deol’s second foray into Tamil cinema after his villainous role in the upcoming Kanguva.
Alongside Vijay and Deol, actresses Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju have been roped in for key roles. The film also boasts an impressive supporting cast, featuring veteran actors like Gautham Menon, Narain, Priyamani, and Prakash Raj, who are all set to contribute to this high-stakes project.
Prakash Raj, who famously shared screen space with Vijay in the blockbuster Ghilli, took to social media to share his excitement about working with the actor once again. "Wonderful to continue on yet another journey with #Thalapathy69... and the whole team. To all the wonderful people who are pouring warmth for this announcement... Love U Chellams," he tweeted. While his role in this film may differ from his iconic villainous turn in Ghilli, his inclusion has only added to the growing anticipation.
The project comes at a time of heightened emotional significance for Vijay’s fanbase, as the actor has hinted that Thalapathy 69 could be his last acting project before he transitions fully into politics. Fresh off the success of The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT), Vijay’s potential departure from cinema has left fans feeling both excited and bittersweet as they await the release of his final film.
Thalapathy 69 is set to hit the screens in October next year.
