Tejas box office
Kangana Ranaut’s aerial film Tejas crashed before taking off at the box office. The film didn’t find any takers in the theatres on the opening day. As per reports, the film merely earned Rs 1 crore on Friday, October 27. The film’s occupancy was 5.57% in the Hindi-speaking areas until afternoon as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
If Tejas does not pick up at the box office over the weekend, it will add to Kangana's list of flops. The actress has already suffered at the box office with past releases like Dhaakad, Thalaivii, Panga and Judgementall Hai Kya. However, her recently released Chandramukhi 3 managed to earn around Rs 40 crore. Made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, Tejas will likely incur huge losses to the producers if the downward trend follows.
Written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, Tejas follows the extraordinary journey of Tejas Gill, an Air Force pilot, who work tirelessly to defend her nation and rescue hostages from terrorists in the film. Besides Kangana, the film also features Ashish Vidyarthi, Varun Mitra, Veena Nair and Anshul Chauhan in key roles. Bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala, the film was released on October 27 in theatres.
DesiMartini’s review of read, “Sarvesh Mewara's Tejas is an ode to the courage, bravery and sacrificial spirit of the Indian Air Force. However, while one expects the message to tug at our heartstrings, this one gets too preachy and moralistic. Not only this but the blaring background score makes this one, 'more noise and less impact' in the literal sense.”
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut recently revealed that she will soon start shooting for the next instalment of hit franchise Tanu Weds Manu. Though she didn’t divulge much details on the same, she expressed desire to work with Aanand L Rai again. Apart from this, the actress will also feature in a film with Vijay Sethupathi, a political drama Emergency and Noti Binodini.
