Actor-filmmaker Radhakrishnan Parthiban's latest movie Teenz made its streaming debut on Thursday. The movie, starring a bunch of young cast, is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Parthiban expressed his joy after the movie found a home on the streaming, noting that he was waiting for "this day for a long time."

It seems Teenz didn't have a streaming partner while going into theatrical release. In recent years, while big-star movies find a lot of takers, streaming platforms have become very choosy when investing in content-driven movies, especially if they are experimental in nature. It's an uphill battle for producers to find a place to show a strong platform to show their audiences in the streaming world. It's noteworthy that more than 50 per cent of new movies in Tamil cinema last year didn't find a streaming platform, and have vanished into oblivion.

In that sense, Parthiban seems to have been lucky in receiving the patronage of Amazon Prime Video. However, this film's streaming release took longer than usual. Typically, all new Tamil movies arrive on the streaming platforms within four weeks of their theatrical release. But, Teenz took nearly nine weeks to arrive on streaming, despite its theatrical run coming to an end a long time ago.

Teenz, written and directed by Parthiban, opened in cinemas on July 12 this year, along with superstar Kamal Haasan's much-awaited movie, Indian 2. Parthiban expressed his confidence that his movie had the potential to captivate the family and young audiences, even though the majority of the screens were dominated by Indian 2. He noted he released the movie against Indian 2 despite the best advice of his well-wishers to postpone the release.

However, Teenz didn’t make an impact with critics or at the box office.

The film follows a group of teenagers who, after finding themselves in a tricky situation, manage to overcome their challenges without much help from adults.
