Suriya's Kanguva release postponed to avoid clash with Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan
The potential delay of Suriya's Kanguva is reportedly due to concerns over a box office clash with Rajinikanth's upcoming film Vettaiyan.

The latest buzz is that the release of Tamil superstar Suriya's much-awaited movie Kanguva is likely to be postponed. According to sources in the film trade, distributors across India have reportedly requested the producers of Kanguva to opt for a new release date to avoid a direct clash with Superstar Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan.
Speculations are rife that Kanguva may push its release date from October 10 to October 31, cashing in on the extended Diwali holiday. However, an official confirmation on this is still awaited.
Producer KE Gnanavel Raja was careful in selecting the release date for Kanguva, which is the costliest movie in Suriya's career. Although there were strong reports about Vettaiyan aiming for an October 10 release, no official confirmation was made at the time. Last month, Gnanavel zeroed in on October 10 for Kanguva, expressing confidence that Vettaiyan would not release on the same date.
However, in a turn of events, recently Lyca Productions also chose October 10, causing significant ripples in the industry. Distributors and exhibitors were particularly concerned about the impact of two big-star movies releasing on the same day, as it could hurt business.
If rumours about the delayed release of Kanguva are true, what might be the exact reason? Does director Siva need more time to complete post-production? Or was it Gnanavel's choice to avoid clashing with a Rajinikanth movie at the box office?
Earlier, in an interview, Gnanavel claimed to be a die-hard fan of Rajinikanth, noting that he would never release a movie on the same day as a Rajinikanth film. The situation remains unclear at the moment.
In Vettaiyan, written and directed by TJ Gnanavel, Rajinikanth plays the role of a cop, with a star-studded cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier, among others.
