Tamil superstar Suriya suffered a head injury while shooting for his upcoming movie, tentatively titled Suriya 44, in Ooty. He was injured during the filming of an action scene.

According to reports, Suriya's injury is said to be minor. After receiving treatment at a hospital in Ooty, he has been advised to take a few days of bed rest. The shoot, as of now, stands cancelled.

The second schedule of Suriya 44 went on the floors in Ooty earlier this month. The production was progressing non-stop and at a brisk pace until this unfortunate incident.

Neither Suriya nor the producers have issued an official statement on the incident yet.

The upcoming movie marks the maiden collaboration between Suriya and director Karthik Subbaraj. It's believed to be a period film that follows the battle exploits of a mafia leader.

The teaser trailers have promised a memorable action drama, with an intense performance from Suriya. While it's not the first time Suriya has taken on an anti-hero role, this film is expected to become a standout in his career.

Suriya 44 is believed to be a wholesome movie packed with "love, laughter, and war." It also stars Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, and Sujith Shankar, among others.

Suriya was expected to collaborate with director Sudha Kongara again on a project titled Purananooru, which was set to feature an all-star cast. However, Suriya opted out of the project, citing various reasons.

Recently, it was revealed that Suriya was a bit reluctant about the political themes discussed in Purananooru and felt it was not the right time in his career to make that movie.

In the meantime, Suriya is also awaiting the release of Kanguva. Written and directed by Siva, Kanguva is Suriya's first pan-Indian release, a fantasy movie mounted on a huge budget. The film is due in cinemas on October 10.
