Tamil superstar Suriya recently shared his admiration for director Siva's unique approach to creating the fictional world of Kanguva. According to Suriya, Siva’s deep knowledge of Tamil literature was instrumental in crafting the film’s rich and believable setting. "Siva’s literary background allowed him to build a world that feels both imaginative and grounded," Suriya said.

Explaining the intricacies of Kanguva's fictional universe, Suriya revealed that the beliefs of different clans shape their actions and personalities. “Each clan has its own deity—one worships water, making them soft-spoken and peace-loving, while another reveres fire, making them fierce and unyielding. What if some clans worship blood? How would they behave?” he elaborated, suggesting that these dynamics reflect real-world societal complexities. “The power struggles in Kanguva echo contemporary issues—conflicts between wealth and poverty, peace and aggression,” Suriya added, promising that the film’s approach to war is refreshingly original for mainstream cinema.

Suriya believes Kanguva will resonate across all demographics. “This is a landmark film for its visuals and universal themes that will connect with everyone,” he shared.

He also revealed that preparing for his role as a tribal warlord was physically demanding. At 49, he was motivated to achieve a six-pack physique, especially for an intense, bare-chested climax battle against Bobby Deol. “I committed to a 100-day diet to get that six-pack,” Suriya disclosed, adding that it was essential to match Bobby Deol’s towering presence on screen.

Despite his love of food, Suriya noted that he is fortunate not to gain weight easily. “Unlike others in my family, I don’t struggle much to stay in shape. I eat what I love and still manage to stay fit,” he said, with a laugh.

Kanguva is set for a grand release on November 15.
