Tamil superstar Suriya expressed shock and extended his condolences after the untimely passing of editor Nishadh Yusuf. Although Nishadh had established himself within the Malayalam film industry, he was set to make his Tamil film debut with Kanguva. “Heartbroken to hear Nishadh is no more! You’ll always be remembered as a quiet and important part of team Kanguva… In our thoughts and prayers. My heartfelt condolences to Nishadh’s family & friends. RIP,” tweeted Suriya.

Nishadh was found dead early Wednesday at his Panampilly Nagar residence. While the official cause of death remains unconfirmed, police have preliminarily classified the case as a suspected suicide.

Just days prior, Nishadh attended the Kanguva audio release event in Chennai, appearing cheerful as he mingled with the cast, including Suriya and Bobby Deol, and shared photos on social media. Nishadh’s work on Malayalam films like Thallumaala, Unda, and One established him as one of the most sought-after editors in the industry. His editing in Thallumaala, directed by Khalid Rahman, was widely praised as innovative, combining cutting-edge visuals with impactful storytelling.

Kanguva was set to be Nishadh’s breakthrough into Tamil cinema, marking a significant milestone in his career. The film, touted as Suriya’s most expensive project, has been completed and is set for release on November 15.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved editor, #NishadYusuf Your talent, dedication and vision were invaluable assets to our team and your absence leaves us with a profound void. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends during this difficult time," read a message from Studio Green.
