Tamil star Suriya on Thursday expressed his support for Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest release, Vettaiyan, and warmly welcomed Hindi cinema legend Amitabh Bachchan to the Tamil film industry. In a social media post, Suriya shared his excitement for the film and extended his best wishes to the entire team.

"Hearty wishes #Vettaiyan! I’m sure the film will be thought-provoking & entertaining. Warm welcome with lots of respect to Tamil @SrBachchan Sir. Best wishes to @Rajinikanth Sir, our @tjgnan, & the fabulous cast & crew," tweeted Suriya.

Suriya’s highly anticipated film Kanguva was originally slated to release on the same day as Vettaiyan. The filmmakers had locked in this date and made public announcements. However, in a show of respect and strategic planning, the producers decided to delay Kanguva’s release after Vettaiyan also picked October 10 as its release date.

Suriya acknowledged the challenges that come with releasing a film alongside a Rajinikanth starrer. "On October 10, Rajini sir’s Vettaiyan is coming out. Rajini sir is my senior. He started acting the year I was born and has been the identity of Tamil cinema for the last 50 years. I believe, on that date, only his film should come out. This is our respect towards Superstar," Suriya explained.

The decision was also motivated by the massive scale of Kanguva, the most expensive film in Suriya’s career. The producers wanted a solo release to maximize attention and screen availability, not just in Tamil Nadu but across India.

Adding a personal connection to Vettaiyan, Suriya’s previous film, Jai Bhim, was directed by TJ Gnanavel, who also wrote and directed Vettaiyan. Gnanavel revealed that he had been in pre-production on a new project with Suriya before the opportunity to work with Rajinikanth came along. With Suriya’s blessing, Gnanavel put that project on hold to focus on Vettaiyan.

In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth plays a top cop known for encounter killings. The film explores his moral dilemma when evidence from one of his encounters turns out to be fabricated, thrusting him into a battle of conscience.
