Tamil actor Suriya and comedian-turned-filmmaker RJ Balaji’s upcoming collaboration, Suriya 45, is undoubtedly one of the most exciting projects fans are looking forward to watching. While the announcement poster generated huge buzz among netizens, filmmaker RJ Balaji recently revealed more interesting tidbits about how Suriya came on board for the project.

How did Suriya come onboard for Suriya 45

During a recent Tamil interview, the director revealed that he narrated the script in an hour, which was immediately approved by the actor. He said, “I narrated the story in just one hour. One day, I randomly received a call asking about a story I had been wanting to narrate to Suriya sir and whether I was free to share it with him. I began narrating it to him at around 10 a.m., and by 11 a.m., I had finished. He was immediately impressed and agreed to do the film.” RJ Balaji also revealed that it had been 15–16 years since Suriya had agreed to a film over the table after just one narration. "I was so happy hearing it from him," he added.

RJ Balaji further shared that Suriya was particularly impressed by the "theatre moments" in the script. After their discussion, the director made changes to the script to suit Suriya’s caliber while keeping the core plot intact.

The director also mentioned that the makers have finalized the title of the film and will make an official announcement revealing it soon.

Suriya 45 marks the 45th film in Tamil star Suriya’s acting career. Directed and written by RJ Balaji, the upcoming film will feature music composed by Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman. This project reunites Suriya and AR Rahman after a nine-year hiatus; the duo last collaborated on Suriya’s 2016 blockbuster film 24.

When the project was first announced, the makers unveiled an intense poster featuring a white horse encircled by multiple swords, each marked with a tilak. The poster hints at the inclusion of mythological elements, sparking excitement among fans for this fresh collaboration.

While Suriya 45 marks the first directorial collaboration between Suriya and RJ Balaji, the duo previously shared screen space in the film Thaanaa Serndha Koottam. The project is being bankrolled by SR Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures.
