Actor Soori is brimming with excitement about his upcoming movie Kottukkaali, also known as The Adamant Girl. After enjoying a rewarding run at several prestigious international film festivals, the film is now poised to make its theatrical debut in India.

In a recent discussion, Soori sought to manage audience expectations, emphasizing that Kottukkaali is not a typical commercial entertainer but a film that needs the blessings and support of the masses.

"When you go to watch Baahubali, you are in a different mindset. The same goes for Vikram or Avatar. You don't have the same expectations from all movies," Soori explained. "Similarly, you should come with a different mindset to watch Kottukkaali. This film has earned a lot of honours on international stages; it's a realistic movie and is directed by the one who made Koozhangal."

Kottukkaali had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in the World Cinema Section. It garnered glowing reviews from critics worldwide and created significant buzz at subsequent film festivals.

Soori urged audiences to approach the film with an open mind, cautioning against expecting something akin to mainstream hits like Viduthalai or Garudan. "But I can assure you that you will really like this film," he added. "I believe that you might take 15 minutes to get into this world. But, you will definitely like it. I am confident that people will give it a great reception as it will be a very new experience. These are stories that happened right in our backyard. And the success of such films will inspire more filmmakers to tell their stories."

Kottukkaali promises a unique cinematic experience—a slice-of-life drama that is both deeply rooted in reality and profoundly moving. The film, bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan, tells the story of a family seeking divine intervention to tame an adamant girl, played by Anna Ben.

Kottukkaali is due in cinemas on August 23.
