Actor Soori has extended his support for the latest Tamil movie Kanguva. Starring superstar Suriya in the lead role, the movie was made on a lavish budget and released amid high expectations. However, overwhelmingly negative reviews have impacted its box office potential.
Recently, Suriya’s wife, Jyothika, openly criticized the negative reviews while praising the movie. Soori has now joined in, urging audiences not to be swayed by biased reviews or opinions with ulterior motives and to support Kanguva in achieving great success.
"I think more and more people post negative reviews just for the sake of reach and views," Soori said to the media.
Soori offered a glowing endorsement of Kanguva, lauding the efforts of the cast and crew in elevating Tamil cinema.
"As a common audience member, I liked Kanguva very much. I took my whole family to watch it, and even my children enjoyed it. We should not take negative reviews to heart. While some have given poor reviews, many have shared positive feedback. This movie is an attempt to take Tamil cinema to the next level. I bow to the intention and effort behind it. When you watch the movie, you will realize the immense work that went into making this film over two years. A producer investing crores with high interest doesn’t aim to create a flop. Similarly, an actor who has been in the industry for decades doesn’t want to deliver a failed movie. Everyone works toward success and connecting with audiences," Soori added.
Kanguva is billed as the most expensive film in Suriya’s career, with a budget exceeding Rs 300 crore. Written and directed by Siva, the film revolves around themes of reincarnation and unfulfilled promises. The cast includes Bobby Deol and Disha Patani.
Despite the reviews, Kanguva reportedly earned over Rs. 127 crore from global ticket sales within its first three days of release.
