Sookshmadarshini on OTT: Stream Basil Joseph, Nazriya Nazim’s film on this platform

Basil Joseph and Nazriya Nazim teamed up in 2024 for Sookshmadarshini, which impressed audiences with its engaging plot and impressive performances. Though the movie hit theatres in November 2024, there was no official update about its OTT premiere, leading to much speculation online. Finally, it has been confirmed that Sookshmadarshini will release on Disney+ Hotstar on January 11, 2025. Here’s everything you need to know as the Malayalam movie makes its much-awaited OTT premiere.

Disney+ Hotstar recently announced that Sookshmadarshini will release on its platform on January 11. The Malayalam movie will be available in five languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada, along with English subtitles.

Sookshmadarshini plot and cast

Sookshmadarshini follows Priyadarshini as she sets out to find more about Manuel who has started living in her neighbourhood recently. Nazriya Nazim plays Priyadarshini or Priya, a homemaker, while Basil Joseph appears in the role of Manuel. Priya has a close bunch of friends, played by Akhila Bhargavan of Premalu fame, Merin Philip and Pooja Mohanraj. Deepak Parambol plays her husband Antony.

Sookshmadarshini reception

Upon its release in November, Sookshmadarshini received largely positive reviews and went on to have a good run at the box office. The lead actors of Nazriya and Basil won much appreciation for their performance, along with the supporting cast. MC Jithin directed the film based on the screenplay by Athul Ramachandran Libin TB.

The film also marked Nazriya’s return to Malayalam cinema after a hiatus. Prior to Sookshmadarshini, she starred opposite Nani in the Telugu film, Ante Sundaraniki, which is available on Netflix.

This film also turned out to be yet another successful venture for filmmaker-actor Basil Joseph, who was seen in films such as Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, Ajayante Randam Moshanam and Nunakkuzhi in 2024.

Basil is currently gearing up for his upcoming film Pravinkoodu Shappu, which is set to release on January 16, 2025
