Filmmaker-actor SJ Suryah was overjoyed on Thursday after meeting Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar. He took to social media to share a photo of himself with Ajith, describing him as his "mentor." "HAPPIEST MOMENT AFTER SO MANY YEARS WITH MY MENTOR #AK THE GREAT," wrote Suryah in all caps to emphasize his feelings.

It's safe to assume that Suryah met Ajith on the sets of Vidaamuyarchi. The shooting of Vidaamuyarchi is happening in Hyderabad, where Suryah is also filming Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. Ajith seems to have accommodated Suryah's request for a photo in the middle of an action sequence, as he is still wearing makeup that makes his hands appear stained with blood.

Suryah and Ajith have played pivotal roles in each other's careers. Suryah made his directorial debut with Vaali in 1999, starring Ajith. In the film, inspired by a mythological story, Ajith essayed a double role: the protagonist and the antagonist. The movie was both a critical and commercial success, solidifying Ajith's stardom in Tamil cinema, while Suryah immediately became a force to reckon with.

Suryah followed up the success of Vaali with Kushi, starring Thalapathy Vijay. Soon after, he made his screen debut as a lead actor with New in 2004 and has since focused on shaping his career as an actor. While Suryah hasn't achieved significant stardom, he has cultivated a fan following of his own. He has become one of the most sought-after actors for portraying strong villain roles, not just in Tamil cinema, but also in Telugu.

Suryah is now busy shooting for Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, which stars Telugu actor Nani in the lead role. He plays a megalomaniac police officer in this action drama, which is written and directed by Vivek Athreya. The film is due in cinemas on August 29.
