Tamil A-listers flocked to theatres across Tamil Nadu to catch the first day, first show of The Greatest of All Time (aka The GOAT), starring Superstar Thalapathy Vijay. Touted to be the second-to-last film in Vijay’s legendary acting career, it holds special significance for his devoted fans.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan attended a screening at a multiplex in Coimbatore alongside lyricist Vivek. Sivakarthikeyan also made a special cameo in the film, a moment eagerly received by fans as it marks his first time sharing screen space with Vijay.

Interestingly, director Venkat Prabhu was initially slated to direct Sivakarthikeyan after Maanaadu under the AGS Entertainment banner. However, the director and producer ultimately teamed up with Vijay for The GOAT.

Trisha, another high-profile celebrity, watched The GOAT with fans. Having shared crackling on-screen chemistry with Vijay in several iconic films, Trisha made a special cameo appearance in the movie, performing a nostalgic dance number with him, reminding fans of their blockbuster film Ghilli.

The GOAT opened to a rousing reception across South India. Despite limited openings in the Telugu states, the film saw packed houses, with shows starting as early as 4 AM. The film's advance bookings have already crossed Rs 100 crore.

Although The GOAT has received mixed reviews, Vijay’s immense star power may still drive massive numbers during its extended four-day opening weekend.

"Instead of focusing on crafting a tight and compelling story, Venkat Prabhu chooses to piggyback on Vijay’s star power, assuming that the actor’s charming screen presence can mask the film’s flaws. When even Vijay’s superstardom isn’t enough to salvage the movie, Venkat turns to nostalgia and references to other stars like Dhoni, Rajinikanth, and Ajith," read a 2-star review of Desimartini.

The GOAT also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, and Sneha among others.
