Recently, during his promotions in Dubai, Sivakarthikeyan revealed how producer Kamal Haasan reacted to Amaran—and the emotion it stirred up.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Amaran has every chance to succeed at the box office globally. After promoting the film across India and in Singapore, he recently flew to Dubai to spread the word. At a promotional event, Sivakarthikeyan shared Kamal Haasan’s heartfelt reaction after watching Amaran for the first time.
Sivakarthikeyan revealed that Kamal personally called him after the screening, and to add a humorous touch, he even mimicked Kamal’s voice while recounting the moment. “He (Kamal Haasan) said it was good, and that everyone has done their job wonderfully,” Sivakarthikeyan recalled, clearly relieved and honored by the praise.
However, it seems Sivakarthikeyan may have downplayed the veteran actor’s response. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who attended the film’s audio launch, disclosed that Kamal Haasan was overcome with emotion during the screening . “I heard that Kamal Sir watched Amaran with a box of tissues beside him. That’s how impactful the movie is,” Lokesh noted, hinting at the emotional depth of the film.
Kamal Haasan’s involvement in Amaran was instrumental beyond production. When director Rajkumar Periasamy initially considered casting a major star for the lead role to match the film’s grand scale, Kamal urged him instead to find a “fresh face” that would add authenticity to the role. This search led to Sivakarthikeyan, who has taken on one of the most intense roles of his career.
To do justice to the character of Major Mukund Varadarajan, Sivakarthikeyan dedicated months to rigorous training, working with the Indian Army to handle firearms and transform his physique, gaining muscle to resemble an elite soldier.
“I am confident that you will enjoy the movie as much as you did the trailer,” he added, encouraging fans to see the movie in theaters on October 31. Starring Sai Pallavi as the female lead, Amaran promises to be a memorable experience for audiences.
