Actress Simran has broken her silence, issuing a scathing response to the persistent rumours surrounding her career in the Tamil film industry. The former leading star of the 90s and early 2000s, known for her work in both Tamil and Telugu cinema, expressed her frustration over the false reports that portrayed her as "desperate for new roles."
In a strongly-worded statement, Simran made it clear that she was tired of being dragged into baseless speculations. "It’s truly disheartening to see how people can emotionally manipulate you and how little your friends seem to care about it," she said, addressing the emotional toll the rumours have taken on her. "Up until now, I have stayed quiet, but let me make it clear: I’m not desperate to line up and work with any big heroes. I have been there and done that."
The actress also highlighted her evolving goals, emphasizing that her priorities have shifted since her heyday. "My goals are different now, and as a woman, I know my boundaries," Simran asserted, underlining her commitment to self-respect in the face of unfounded gossip. She added, "For years, I remained silent when my name kept appearing on social media, being linked with one or another. But self-respect comes first. 'STOP' is a powerful word, and it’s the right one here."
One of the more striking aspects of Simran's statement was her disappointment with the industry’s silence in the face of these rumours. She pointed out that no one had stepped forward to address or put an end to the false claims. "No one cared about my feelings," she remarked, adding that despite her consistent professionalism, she expects "the same integrity from sensible people in the industry."
Simran was last seen in Andhagan, a remake of Andhadhun. Meanwhile, her other project with director Gautham Menon titled Dhruva Natchathiram, co-starring Chiyaan Vikram, has been delayed due to financial issues. Amid this, rumours continue to swirl, with some suggesting that she has been approached for a role in the highly-anticipated Thalapathy 69. However, these reports remain unconfirmed, further fueling the media frenzy around her career.
Simran also called for accountability from those spreading misinformation, stating they "owe me a sincere apology."
