Silambarasan unites with director Ashwath Marimuthu for a 'vintage-style STR entertainer'; see announcement poster

After teasing fans with updates on his upcoming project, Tamil star Silambarasan has finally unveiled the secret he has been keeping! The actor has officially teamed up with Oh My Kadavule director Ashwath Marimuthu for an exciting new entertainer.

The makers took to social media to announce the collaboration between the actor and director duo, writing, "And the celebration begins. Excited to announce that we are collaborating with the sensational STR for the first time for a kickass entertainer written & directed by our very own Ashwath Marimuthu. Kattam Katti Kalakrom #VintageSTRmood #AGS27."

Along with the announcement, the makers also shared the first-look poster of the film, which features a swag-filled Simbu (Silambarasan) sporting funky tattoos, a black thread around his wrist, and a chain, exuding a vintage STR style reminiscent of his roles in films like Dum, Manmadhan, Vallavan, and others.

The film is bankrolled by AGS Entertainments, which also produced Vijay's The GOAT this year. Tentatively titled STR49, the film marks the actor’s 49th feature film.

Ashwath Marimuthu and Silambarasan share a new poster

Director Ashwath Marimuthu, who also shared the poster, expressed his excitement about collaborating with his favorite star and promised to bring back the vintage Silambarasan in this film. He wrote, "This film will bring back the vintage @SilambarasanTR_ in this new era to set the screens on fire for his STR fans, and I take it as a responsibility! Proud to work again with my @Ags_production. Kattam katti kalakrom #VintageSTRmood."

Silambarasan also shared the poster on social media, writing, "Extremely happy to associate with our prestigious @Ags_production and my dear fan, the talented and youthful director @Dir_Ashwath for a terrific entertainer. Kattam Katti Kalakrom."

The upcoming film is set to begin production in December 2024, after the director and actor finish their pending commitments. Silambarasan, who is currently occupied with his film Thug Life alongside Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, will next be seen in STR48, directed by Desingh Periasamy.

Meanwhile, Ashwath is shooting for his upcoming film Dragon starring Pradeep Ranganathan, which is also being bankrolled by AGS Entertainments.
