Shah Rukh Khan calls Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa ‘warmest film’ of his career; Suchitra Krishnamoorthi wants Aryan in sequel
As Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa completes 30 years, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi imagines Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan as Sunil in the sequel
In his incredible 35 years as an actor, Bollywood’s king Shah Rukh Khan has portrayed several different characters on screen. With some he proved his versatility whereas with others he made a permanent place in our hearts. Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is one film which falls into both the categories. SRK won us over as the happy-go-lucky Sunil Bakshi who was head over heels in love with his band member Anna Gonsalves, played by Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. Celebrating 30 years of the iconic coming-of-age romantic comedy, the superstar called it the happiest and warmest film of his career.
Shah Rukh tweeted: “I really believe this film is the sweetest warmest happiest film I have done. I see it and miss everyone involved in the film especially my friend and teacher Kundan Shah. To the whole cast and crew thank u and love u all.” Meanwhile, in an interview with Times Now, his co-star Suchitra talked about the possibility of a sequel to Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Making it clear that the film should not be touched for a remake, she stated that for the longest time she felt Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt could have played Sunil and Anna in a sequel.
She shared that Sunil could maybe re-enter Anna’s life after her love story with Chris, portrayed by Deepak Tijori, falls apart. However, Suchitra went on to add that Alia and Varun are ‘too old’ for the characters now. She explained, “You need somebody completely new, young and vulnerable. Maybe Kaveri could play Anna.” When asked who would be the perfect choice for Sunil’s character, opposite her daughter Kaveri Kapur, Suchitra replied, “Well, I would have said Aryan Khan can play Sunil but then he is not into acting.” As they say, never say never.
