Samrat Prithviraj: After Uttar Pradesh, Akshay Kumar's historical drama becomes tax-free in Madhya Pradesh & Uttarakhand
Samrat Prithviraj is scheduled to hit silver screens on June 3 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi language. It is set to clash with Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Adivi Sesh’s Major at the box office.
Akshay Kumar ’s historical drama, Samrat Prithviraj has created a lot of buzz ahead of its release. The movie has been declared tax-free in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh.
Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film follows the life and valour of King Prithviraj Chauhan who fought against the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor to protect India’s freedom. The film stars Akshay in the titular role of Prithviraj, and Manushi Chhillar in the role of princess Sanyogita. Besides them, the film also has Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles.

Ahead of its release on June 3, the special screening was organized for Home Minister Amita Shah and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. After watching the film, the two lauded Akshay’s film and Adityanath declared the film tax-free in the state. Following this Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Uttarkhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also decided to make the film tax-free in their respective states.
“We have decided to make the Akshay Kumar-starrer film based on the life of great warrior ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ tax-free in Madhya Pradesh so that more and more youth can see the life of the great emperor and awaken more love for the motherland in them,” wrote MP CM in Hindi on Twitter.
While Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Coming generations should also take inspiration from him, so we have decided that this film will be tax-free in Uttarakhand,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
