Samantha Ruth Prabhu issues clarification after Liver Doc slams her for nebulizer post; calls out his 'provocative' words

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who has been very vocal about her medical treatments, faced significant criticism from doctors online when she posted about a medical practice that is deemed dangerous by them. For those unfamiliar, the South Indian diva recently took to her Instagram stories to recommend hydrogen peroxide nebulization as a treatment for viral infections. 

However, her post received several negative remarks, with some attacking the actress for "spreading misinformation". The post particularly caught the attention of Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, also known as 'The Liver Doc'. He slammed the actress for recommending medical practices that can have serious ill effects and called her "health and science illiterate" in his post.

Samantha issues a statement

The actress has now issued a statement to clarify the issue surrounding her controversial post. In a three-slide post, she stated, "Over the last couple of years, I've had to take many different types of medicines. I've tried everything I was strongly advised to take, as advised by highly qualified professionals and after doing as much self-research as is possible for a lay person like me."

The statement continued, "Many of these treatments were also very, very expensive. I would always keep thinking about how fortunate I am that I could afford them and about all those who cannot. And for the longest time, conventional treatments weren't making me better. There's a good chance it was just me, and I'm sure they will work very well for others."

She also noted Cyriac Abby Philips' post and requested that he be polite. "A certain gentleman has attacked my post and my intentions with rather strong words. Said gentleman is a doctor too. I have no doubt that he knows more than I do, and I am quite sure his intentions were noble. It would have been kind and compassionate of him had he not been so provocative with his words, especially the bit where he suggests I should be thrown in prison," the actress wrote.

Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, aka The Liver Doc, slammed Samantha for recommending the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulization. He criticised the actress for recommending the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulization, which "is dangerous for health."

"Influential Indian actress Ms. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is, unfortunately, a health and science illiterate, advises millions of her followers to inhale hydrogen peroxide to prevent and treat respiratory viral infections," the award-winning doctor wrote on his social media post.
