Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a special guest at the pre-release event of Jigra, showered praise on Alia Bhatt for her inspiring work, both as an actress and a producer. Jigra, which stars Alia in the lead role, has been dubbed in Telugu for a wide release, following Alia’s growing popularity in the region.
Samantha expressed her admiration for Alia, commending her for empowering women to take risks and back themselves.
"As film stars, we have a responsibility to girls who watch our films, to remind them that they are the heroes in their own stories. The work Alia does is so, so important. She reminds us that we are the heroes in our story. Also, Alia is co-producing this movie, she is backing her own projects, which is another reason to respect her so much. She’s taking a risk on herself," Samantha said.
Samantha also felt a personal connection to Jigra, sharing her excitement for the film. "From the bottom of my heart, I wish Jigra becomes a huge blockbuster. Vasan sir, I am a huge fan—I loved the trailer and I can't wait to watch the movie."
The actress further praised Jigra's distributor, Rana Daggubati, for supporting female-led films. "I think every girl needs a brother like Rana," she remarked, adding her appreciation for his role in championing women-centric projects.
Samantha also expressed her deep connection with the Telugu audience, acknowledging their support throughout her career. "Alia just saw the trailer of how much the Telugu people are capable of showering love. After Jigra, she will fully know this. I am who I am today because of the Telugu audience. It’s your love that made me, and you are my family," Samantha said.
Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, follows the story of a brave sister on a mission to save her brother. The film is set to hit cinemas on October 11.
