Salman Khan's Tiger 3 might fail to recreate the same magic in the South like Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan.
Salman Khan in Tiger 3 and Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan
All eyes are on Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 which is hitting the theatres on November 12, 2023. While the movie is predicted to finally break the superstar’s dry spell at the box office with his previous films, many fans are also waiting to see whether it surpasses Jawan’s box office collections. For the unversed, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer’s lifetime collections came to Rs 1132.13 crore. The movie also managed to earn a mammoth collection from the South. However, there is a meager possibility that Tiger 3 won’t be able to recreate the same magic in the South.
It is not a hidden fact that Jawan had many elements and exciting connections with the South Indian film industry which was enough to capture the hearts of the fans over there. The movie was directed by Atlee who was a renowned director in the South and the excitement in the air was palpable to see the collaboration between him and Shah Rukh. Then the movie had Nayanthara who is literally hailed as ‘Lady Superstar’ in the South playing the romantic interest of SRK. If that was not enough, Vijay Sethupathi, another popular name from the South was the main antagonist in the film.
Apart from this, the mass appeal around Vikram Rathore’s character was a phenomenon to which many fans from the South could relate. Coming to Tiger 3, even though the movie’s buzz is equally high, it might not have so many elements like Jawan to capture the interest of the South. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the footfalls of Tiger 3 might be higher in Bangalore and Hyderabad than in Chennai. The priority of the audience will be given more to regional releases like Japan and Jigarthanda 2.
Talking about the espionage flick, it will also be starring Katrina Kaif in the lead role. Emraan Hashmi will be playing the main antagonist in the movie. The film has been helmed by Maneesh Sharma.
