Sad news LCU fans, it looks like Kaithi 2 is still a long way off

While it was announced that director Lokesh Kangaraj and Karthi would be working on Kaithi 2 after Leo has wrapped production, now it seems like that may not be the case.

According to a new report by Times of India, since Karthi is busy with the heist thriller Japan and not to mention three other projects, Kaithi 2 won't be the next installment in the LCU after the upcoming Leo.

Karthi 's upcoming movie Japan marks his first collaboration with director Rajkumar Periasamy. The director made his debut with the 2017 movie Rangoon.

As for Japan, Karthi will be playing a double role in the movie and the movie will be a heist thriller. This will be the third time the actor has played a double role after 'Siruthai' and 'Kaashmora'.

Joining Karthi the rest of the cast includes Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, Koushik Mahata, Ashna Sudheer, and Vijay Milton.

The movie is produced by S. R. Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures. The cinematography for the movie is handled by Ravi Varman, the music is helmed by G.V. Prakash Kumar and finally, the editing will be done by Philomin Raj.

Karthi will also be working with director Nalan Kumarasamy this year. Director Nalan Kumarasamy is known for directing hit movies like Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, he also wrote the script for the 2019 critical and commercially sucessfull movie Super Deluxe.

Karthi will be seen next on the big screen in the highly anticipated Pooniyen Selvan Part 2, In which he will reprise his role as the charming and loyal Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan.

Ponniyen Selvan was a huge critical and commercial success becoming the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2022 and the fifth highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time with a total box office collection of 500 crores.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 will hit theaters worldwide on April 28th, 2023.
