Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: CBFC remove Mamata Banerjee dialogue, change 'bra' to 'item' in Ranveer-Alia film

Since the trailer of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani dropped, fans are eagerly waiting for its release. Director Karan Johar has already given a sneak peek into the lead characters–Rocky (Ranveer), a rich Punjabi guy and Rani(Alia)who belongs to a Bengali household that values knowledge and intelligence. In the trailer itself, it was revealed that the film is about love between two individuals from contrasting backgrounds. And to justify their backgrounds, the movie has certain dialogues which have reference to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Lok Sabha.

Ahead of the release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objected to such references and also asked makers to replace a cuss word used in the film. As per the latest reports, the abusive word b******d, which is used multiple times in the film, has been replaced by 'behan di'. The board also ordered changes in a popular rum brand to 'Bold Monk'. Not only this, in one of the lingerie shop scenes, the bra was replaced with 'item'. The film has reportedly been certified after these changes.

Meanwhile, Ranveer and Alia have been on a promotional spree in full swing. Over the last few days, the duo have been hopping cities and creating much-needed hype. Today, the maker teased Dhindora Baaje Re, the upcoming fourth song from the film which is set to release tomorrow. In the short clip, Ranveer and Alia could be seen dressed in red and setting the dance floor on fire with their energetic moves. “Love only gets louder! Prepare your hearts to dance to the beats of #DhindhoraBajeRe - SONG OUT TOMORROW!” Karan captioned the song.

Backed by Dharma Productions and Viacom 18 Studios, the film also has legendary actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan in important roles. The film is set to arrive in theatres on July 28, 2023.
