Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani box office Day 6: Ranveer- Alia starrer remains steady, inches closer to Rs 70 crore

Ever since its release, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s family drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani held strong at the box office. Despite being released amid Hollywood flicks Oppenheimer and Barbie, the film’s collection remained steady on the weekdays. On Day 6, the film registered earnings of Rs 6.90 crore, taking the total collection closer to Rs 70 crore.

Helmed by Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani had an average opening of Rs 11.10 crore. Following Saturday and Sunday, it showed an impressive jump collecting Rs 16.05 crore and Rs 18.75 crore respectively. However, the collection hit hard on the first Monday, registering Rs 7.02 crore at the box office. The film managed to maintain the numbers in the following days, minting Rs 7.30 crore on Tuesday and Rs 6.90 crore on Wednesday. The total collection now stands at Rs 67.12 crore as per industry tracker Sacnilk. In the overseas market, the film performed quite well as it has collected around Rs 117.10 crore so far. According to trade analysts, the second-weekend collection is significant for Karan Johar’s directorial, which is made on a budget of Rs 160 crore.

The film focuses on the love story of Rocky(Ranveer Singh) and Rani(Alia Bhatt), who comes from different family background and culture. The 2-hours-48-minutes-long movie also draws attention to gender stereotyping, patriarchal norms, body shaming and other societal topics. Besides Alia and Ranveer, the film has Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Tota Roy, Anjali Anand, Churni Ganguly, Aamir Bashir and Kshitee Jog as part of the supporting cast. The film marked the return of Karan in director’s chair after seven years. His last directorial was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
