    After entertaining audiences with his previous outing Singapore Saloon, comedian and actor RJ Balaji is all set to star in his next intriguing drama, Sorgavaasal. Directed by assistant director-turned-debutant Sidharth Vishwanath, director Pa Ranjith unveiled the first look poster and title of the film.

    Sharing the new announcement, the filmmakers wrote, “So proud to see @Sid_Vishwanath, my former AD, step into the director’s role! Congratulations da! Excited to share the first look of his debut film #Sorgavasal. Wishing you all the best on this amazing journey ahead—hope it leads to massive success! Thank you for your support, brother @RJ_Balaji and team.”

    The new poster features leading man RJ Balaji as a prison inmate, seen in a mugshot taken in 1999. According to reports, the film revolves around a prison break, where RJ Balaji plays the character of a criminal who attempts to escape from prison.

    Netflix has purchased the streaming rights to the film. Directed by debutant Sidharth Vishwanath, the film is written by Thamizh Praba, Ashwin Ravichandran, and Sidharth Vishwanath. Notably, Sidharth was an assistant director for acclaimed filmmaker Pa Ranjith. Produced under Think Studios and Swipe Right Studio, the film features an original background score and soundtracks composed by Christo Xavier, cinematography by Prince Anderson, editing by Selva RK, and art direction by S Jayachandran.

    Meanwhile, the comedian-filmmaker is currently gearing up for his upcoming directorial project, Suriya 45, which will have beloved actor Suriya playing the lead. Touted to be a mythological adventure drama, the movie is bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures and will feature music by AR Rahman.
