Rajinikanth thanks Suriya for postponing Kanguva to avoid box office clash with Vettaiyan
Rajinikanth has reacted to Suriya's decision to delay the release of Kanguva to favour Vettaiyan.
Kanguva is set to clash with Vettaiyan at box office.
Superstar Rajinikanth expressed his gratitude to actor Suriya for delaying the release of Kanguva, allowing his film Vettaiyan to have a solo release in Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth, who is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Coolie, acknowledged Suriya's gesture and extended his best wishes for the success of Kanguva.
“I am thankful for his love and affection. I also wish great success to Kanguva,” Rajinikanth told reporters on Sunday. His comments came a day after Suriya publicly shared his respect and admiration for Rajinikanth while explaining the reason behind postponing Kanguva's release.
During the audio release event of Meiyazhagan, Suriya elaborated on his decision, saying, “On October 10, Rajini sir’s Vettaiyan is coming out. Rajini sir is my senior. He started acting the year I was born and has been the identity of Tamil cinema for the last 50 years. And I believe, on that date, only his film should come out. This is our respect towards the Superstar.”
Suriya's decision to move the release of Kanguva has been well-received in the Tamil film industry, easing the tension surrounding the potential box-office clash. The initial overlap of release dates created a buzz among fans and industry insiders alike, with many fearing that the simultaneous release of two major films could lead to significant financial losses due to limited theatre availability.
By postponing Kanguva to November, likely coinciding with Diwali celebrations, Suriya has allowed both films to have their moment in the spotlight, benefiting both the producers and the audiences. However, an official announcement confirming the new release date for Kanguva is still awaited.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has completed the dubbing for Vettaiyan, and post-production work is nearing completion.
